This person is a former student of a friend of mine as well as being a U.S. Marine and somehow got into my friends email account. What he doesn’t understand is that being Retired Navy I have very good friends in the Marines who are Senior Enlisted. As soon as I receive word from the Marine Locator I’ll turn the matter over to his CMD Sgt. Major.

Not that I feel compelled to help you out or anything but for as much “experience” as you say you have, maybe you should get a few things straight first. I will list these in numbered order, however they are in no particular preference:
1. “Murrieta and Temecula Valley’s only authentic, Japanese Ninpo.” This is mighty presumptuous of you, beings that your “lineage” is clouded at best.
2. “Kobushi = Fist”. Are you sure, I would like to see which kanji your using.
3. “Ground work: (Atemi) Brake falls, rolling, flipping, ground techniques, suwari waza.”. WOW!, since when did atemi become break falls and did you notice how I spelled break…correctly…oh and suwari waza are not seated techniques, they are kneeling techniques.
4. “Empty hand arts: (Tai Jutsu / Ukemi): punching, kicking, takedowns, locks, immobilization and includes Jujutsu and Aikijutsu principles (as a beginning foundation), and the specialized arts of Shinkeido and Fushido, Koppo and others.” Well lets explore this one shall we; the direct translation to “empty hand arts” is Kara (empty) te (hand) jutsu (art). Taijutsu is all one word genius, tai means body and jutsu means art or science. Ukemi, now these are your rolls and breakfalls. Uke means to receive mi can mean ground or earth…not earth like the element but more like the actual earths surface.
5. “Traditional Dances: There are several Traditional Dances which are exclusive to Saito Ninjitsu.” Ok let me get this straight, you don’t spar because its not combat effective, but somehow dancing is, wow.
6. “The school teaches several classical weapons, such as nunchaku, sai, bo, tonfa and swordsmanship, but also many improvised and Family Specific weapons.” Classical weapons to whom, the Okinawa’s? FYI, bo means stick, so which size stick are you referring to…all of them.
7. “KENJUTSU AND IAIDO CLASS”. Interesting how you offer these “courses” but no where in your bio do you speak of having any real formalized training nor any rank to back this up. Cutting shit with a sharp knife does not make you a legitimate sword instructor. Oh yeah, I looked into it, why doesn’t anyone who has ever actually really trained with BJ Sensei know who you are.
The icing on the cake!!!
8. “Mr. McGovern holds Senior Black Belt ranking in Go Zan Ryu Tengu Ninjitsu. This ranking encompasses not only the Saito Family Ninpo Art but also the arts of the Fu Family Wu Dang Wu Shu system.” Why do you only have a shodan hanging on the wall then liar. Master Phelps, your alleged teacher doesn’t even recognize who you are. Senior black belt ranking HA!
9. “He has studied Martial Arts for more than 30 years and holds Sandan ranking in Aiki Okami Ryu Jujutsu (Daito Ryu),” Why don’t you teach this art then…Oh yeah, Daito Ryu is Daito Ryu and Aiki Okami Ryu is Aiki OKami Ryu.
10. “Nidan ranking in Aikido” From who and you had better not say BJ Sensei. Which organization?
11. “and Shodan ranking in Shotokan Karate.” This sounds a little more accurate.
12. “He also has experience in White Crane Kung Fu, Won Hop Loong Chuan Gung Fu, Judo, Kenjutsu and Iaido/Battojutsu.” Getting arrested would give you experience in law, but guess what?, it doesn’t make you a lawyer.
Hey guy, the bottom line here is, you can do what ever it is you want. You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all of us all the time. Now I can continue busting you up all day, but I don’t have the time or patience to deal with you. Oh on a serious note though thank you for your service in the military. Have a wonderful day.

There is a lot of information young Mr. Shields does not have, such as who is and is not recognized by the Saito Family and who has been expelled. My recognition comes directly from the Saito’s and not Mr. Phelps. Also, his teacher’s teacher and I both studied under the B.J. Carlyle Sensei at the Dojo of the Four Winds in Encinitas now run by Mr. James Williams of Nami Ryu. Its funny that he didn’t think I would recognize the difference in writing style and that his teacher has much more information about me than he does or that I would call him about it. Turns out Mr. Shields hacked into my friends email account and tried to send this message under his teacher’s name. Probably just one of the reasons Mr. Shields was booted from the Corps.
Again, Mr. Shields needs to read more closely and carefully. I did however, type this very slowly just in case he has a friend read it to him.
