Rules of Conduct
1. You are a student of this school only and are not to study in any other school nor exchange these arts with students from any other martial arts school or any person not enrolled in this school. This art is to be yours alone and not to be discussed with anyone outside the school.
2. Consistent attendance is necessary to progress in this art.
3. Pay on time. This school has no contracts to entrap students. Your space in class is reserved therefore your tuition is due whether you attend class or not. It is the responsibility of each student to project his/her integrity and desire to master this art by following through on such obvious obligations.
4. No illegal drugs, alcoholic beverages or smoking are allowed in or around this school. Anyone entering this School “under the influence” will be immediately and permanently expelled without refund.
5. You must never use this art aggressively against any person or other living thing. All incidents of self-defense must be reported immediately to the Chief Instructor.
6. Bow as a sign of respect whenever entering the training area, before and after each class and before leaving the dojo, or when requesting permission to enter the training area.
7. Remove your shoes prior to entering the training area. The only authorized “shoes” allowed on the mat are Japanese tabi and Kung Fu style shoes. Ballet slippers are acceptable for kids.
8. There is no need for undue talking while in the school. Conduct all social business outside. This school is a place to practice, contemplate, meditate – and practice some more!
9. Be sure to sign the attendance log located at the front desk or check in with the Manager.
10. When in doubt about a technique taught in this school, ask only the Chief Instructor. The ONLY exception to this rule is when your Sensei invites the Headmaster or another Instructor from the hombu dojo to visit or assist.
11. If granted permission to watch a more senior class than your own, keep quiet and inconspicuous.
12. The Chief Instructor may, at his discretion, dismiss students if he judges them to be lacking in integrity or dedication to these arts. Hence, all new students are on a probationary status for a short period.
13. Any student with belt ranking who is absent for six months or longer will lose his/her ranking unless specifically excused. Such students may return to the school but current fees will apply and class lessons may start at an elementary level, depending on re-entry test results.
14. Re-read Rule #1!
